julianne
"julianne" is about appearing and disappearing on the internet, and in real life, too. I made this piece as a reaction to getting a cancer diagnosis, and then experiencing a series of serious surgeries. My physical body had never felt more vulnerable. In this piece, my digital body considers her own vulnerabilities. She gazes at the URL bar, the source of her very existence, and then disappears against her will. When she reappears, she's none the wiser. Did anesthesia not do the same thing to my physical body? When I woke up, I was changed. When she wakes, she’s the same as she ever was. May she stay that way, forever.
