Mona Kasra
Mona Kasra is a new media artist, designer, and interdisciplinary scholar. Her research examines the political and theoretical dimensions of visual media technologies across cultural contexts, and her creative practice explores the expressive, improvisational, and embodied potentials of emerging media in contemporary art and performance. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally in galleries and film festivals, and she has served as a juror, curator, and programmer for numerous exhibitions, festivals, and conferences. Her designs for live performance have received two Helen Hayes Award nominations for Outstanding Projections/Media Design. Kasra is an Associate Professor of Digital Media Design at the University of Virginia; she served as Conference Chair for ACM SIGGRAPH 2016, Art Gallery Chair for SIGGRAPH 2011, was a member of the ACM SIGGRAPH Executive Committee (2019–2025). She currently serves on the board of the NMC.
