Season 4: Migration | Visual Interpretation of Lei Liang’s Six Seasons
Description
The Visual Interpretation of Six Seasons presents an environmental visualization method that transforms Arctic hydrophone recordings into dynamic, culturally informed landscapes. Sounds captured 300 meters beneath the Chukchi Sea merge with musical composition to generate audio reactive imagery bridging scientific inquiry and Shan shui aesthetics. The workflow combines NASA satellite imagery processing, fine tuned generative AI synthesizing Arctic icescapes with Chinese landscape painting qualities, and real time rendering through Stream Diffusion and TouchDesigner. This approach translates remote ecological data into contemplative visual narratives beyond direct observation. The exhibited piece presents one season, while the complete work spans about one hour, including Seasons 1 to 6 and a coda.
