Morgan Green
Morgan Green (they/them) explores the relationship between technology and knowledge, prioritizing embodied knowledge over descriptive facts. Green repurposes tools and methods from science and engineering in a way that upends their logic-driven design. They build drawing machines that involve their body, so that mechanical marks bend in tension with organic gestures. These practices represent a queer engagement with the ineffable.
Green’s exhibitions include solo and two-person shows with The New Media Caucus’s online Header/Footer Gallery and Mana Contemporary Chicago, Currents 826 in Santa Fe, and Artists’ Television Access in San Francisco. Green has presented work at conferences and festivals including ISEA , Currents New Media Festival, and DOC NYC. They have written for venues including Art 21 Magazine and The Critical Coding Cookbook. Their work occupies public collections including the Amherst Special Collections and Archives and The Riverside Public Library.
