Rose Ansari

PhD Student in Computational Media, Arts & Culture
Duke University

Rose Ansari (she/her) is an Iranian multidisciplinary artist and creative technologist working at the intersection of art, science, and emerging technologies. She received her BFA in Studio Art (Painting) from Alzahra University in Tehran and her MFA in Art & Technology / Sound Practices from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she was also an affiliated researcher and fellow at the University of Chicago. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Computational Media, Arts & Cultures at Duke University.

Her research-based practice explores post-human and cyborg theories, sensory distortion, telecommunication, and human–machine relationships through immersive, laboratory-driven processes. Drawing inspiration from science fiction, biology, cognitive science, and poetry, her work investigates trauma, perception, and the human unconscious within socio-political contexts. Ansari’s projects integrate sound, light, and interactive systems to challenge anthropocentrism and dualistic notions of self. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally.
